Arguably the most famous hot springs property in the US — clifftop sulfur baths cantilevered above the Pacific at the Esalen Institute (founded 1962). Springs flow at ~119°F into communal stone tubs and clawfoot tubs at 104-112°F. Public access only via 1-3am night-bathing reservations. Fee: Public night bathing 1-3am ~$25-45, same-day reservation released 9am. Public access ONLY 1-3am by reservation — slots fill in minutes; Hwy 1 closures possible.
