Jackson Hot Springs Lodge stands on Main Street in the tiny ranching town of Jackson, in Montana's Big Hole Valley at roughly 6,400 feet — a wide-open basin ringed by the Bitterroot and Anaconda ranges, about 47 miles northwest of Dillon via MT-278. A hotel was first built at the springs in 1911, piping geothermal water to a plunge. Today's draw is a single open-air, flow-through pool measuring 30 by 75 feet; a 138°F source is tempered to a maintained 100–106°F, with no chemicals added and no sulfur odor.
The whole operation runs Thursday through Sunday only — pool, restaurant and western bar all closed Monday through Wednesday — and Montana state law bars children under five from the pool. Day swims are open to the public ($12 per adult per the lodge); western rooms with fireplaces, a few pet-friendly units, and RV/tent camping support anglers, skiers and riders using the valley.
