Detailed Description

Large deep rock-walled pool on an island in the Malheur River ~3 mi northeast of Juntura (also called Horseshoe Bend Hot Springs) — scoop river water in to temper the ~105-115°F water. Wild, uncrowded high-desert soak with BLM dispersed camping nearby.

Directions & Trailhead Access

US-20 east from Juntura ~1.5-3 mi (between mileposts 191-192); park near the old highway bridge, hike ~0.5 mi along the river, then ford to the island. High-clearance 4x4 river-track alternative in dry conditions.
