Historic private resort on Warm Spring Creek ~16 mi east of Ukiah — the largest developed hot-pool complex in the Northwest, but CLOSED to the general public since its 2012 repurchase by the Stubblefield family; it operates only for pre-arranged private group bookings and trespassing is actively enforced.
Field notes — checked September 2026
- Hazard: Trespass citations enforced
- Hazard: Remote Blue Mountains location — limited services in Ukiah
- CLOSED to the public — do not drive in expecting entry; trespass without prior written permission results in a citation (enforcement is explicit)
- Access exists only as a private group/organization booking arranged in advance with the owners — no day passes, no walk-ins
- The official site lehmanhotsprings.org was unreachable at research time — booking inquiries may be stale; phone/mail contact with the Stubblefield family operation is the fallback
- Pools historically ran 88-106F+ (upper pool ~110F) fed by 57 sources at ~185 gpm of untreated water; licensed by Umatilla County Health Dept as a 'Limited Use' facility in 2013 — legal operation is restricted to private groups, not public swims
- Road to the property (OR-244 to Lehman Springs Rd/NF-390 area) is driveable; the gate is where access ends

About this spring
Historic resort in the Blue Mountains ~16 mi east of Ukiah — once billed as the largest collection of natural hot spring pools in the Northwest. NOT open to the general public — private group/event bookings only; trespassing enforced. Closed to casual visitors — private bookings only.
Lehman Hot Springs is a hot springs resort in Oregon. The hot springs were used by Native Americans before European settlers arrived. A resort named Lehman Hot Springs was established in 1871. The springs are located along Oregon 244 east of Ukiah in the Blue Mountains at an elevation of 4,300 feet (1,300 m). The family that had owned the resort for most of the 1900s repurchased the property in 2012, despite problems with some of the facilities. After extensive renovations Lehman Hot Springs is operating as a limited use facility for private organizations. It is not open to the public for daily swims. Lehman Hot Springs is the largest collection of natural hot spring pools in the Northwest. Pendleton, Oregon photographer Walter S. Bowman captured images of bathers at the hot springs during the early 20th century, including partygoers at a masquerade.

Directions & trailhead access
Access is restricted; do not use historical directions to plan a visit.
Oregon geothermal context
Oregon splits cleanly in two: Cascade volcanic springs like the Umpqua corridor pools west of the crest, and high-desert basin springs like the Alvord area east of it. Western sites sit in dense wet forest prone to fire closures and winter road washouts; eastern ones are remote sagebrush tubs under enormous skies. Both ends reward checking land-manager alerts before driving out.
What a private-access site means here
This spring is on private property. Listing it documents the location's existence — it is not an invitation. Visiting requires explicit owner permission, and some sites are accessible only through memberships, hosted events, or arrangements with the land manager. Do not arrive unannounced.
