Green Canyon Hot Springs is the operating name for Pincock Hot Springs — the GNIS-recognized name — a geothermal resort tucked into a wooded canyon along Canyon Creek near Newdale, roughly 25 miles northeast of Rexburg. The Pincock family built the first pool here in 1903, and the resort has remained in the same family since 1953, though the springs were known far earlier: explorer Robert Stuart's party camped at the site in 1812 during his overland return from Astoria. Three outdoor pools step down in temperature — the 96°F Big Pool, the 105°F Hot Pool and the 115°F Spring Pool — fed by a roughly 111°F source, with a 55°F cold plunge for contrast soaking. Tent and RV camping are available on site. The sheltered, tree-lined canyon setting is unusual amid the open farmland of eastern Idaho, and the resort is the closest developed hot springs to Rexburg.
